Study Abroad General

Everything you need to know about planning your international education journey

Ideally students should begin planning at least 1 to 2 years before their intended intake. For undergraduate programs this means starting in Grade 11 and for postgraduate programs it means starting in the final year of your bachelor's degree. Early planning gives you time for test preparation, university research, profile building and financial arrangements.
Top destinations for MBBS abroad include Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan and China. These countries offer WHO-recognized medical degrees at significantly lower costs than India. GI Education Overseas provides end-to-end guidance for MBBS admissions in all these destinations.
The right country depends on several factors including your budget, preferred language of instruction, quality of clinical training, post-graduation plans and personal comfort. Our certified counsellors at GI Education Overseas conduct a personalized profile assessment and recommend the most suitable destination based on your unique situation.
Most countries allow international students to work part-time during their studies. For example the UK allows 20 hours per week, Australia allows 48 hours per fortnight and Canada allows 20 hours per week off-campus. Germany allows 120 full days or 240 half days per year. Rules vary by country and visa type so always consult our advisors for the most current regulations.
English language test scores are required by most English-speaking destinations like the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Ireland. However some countries like Germany, South Korea and Russia do not require IELTS if the program is taught in the local language or if the university has its own English proficiency pathway.
MBBS abroad is often more affordable especially in countries like Russia, Philippines and Georgia. International exposure, modern clinical facilities and globally recognized degrees are added advantages. However students must clear the FMGE or MCI screening test upon returning to India to practice medicine domestically.
On average the process from initial counselling to receiving a student visa takes between 4 to 8 months. This includes test preparation (2 to 3 months), university applications (1 to 2 months), admission processing (4 to 8 weeks) and visa processing (3 to 6 weeks). Starting early is always recommended.
Yes. Our allied services include pre-departure briefing, airport pickup coordination, accommodation assistance, forex and international SIM guidance and ongoing student support once you have arrived at your destination country.

Visa and Immigration

Expert guidance on student visa applications and immigration pathways

Core documents include a valid passport (minimum 18 months validity), university admission or offer letter, academic transcripts and certificates, bank statements for the last 6 months, income tax returns for 2 years, Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation, IELTS or TOEFL scores where required, passport-size photographs and visa application fee receipt. Requirements vary by country so our visa team provides a tailored checklist for each student.
Processing times vary by country. USA F-1 visa typically takes 3 to 8 weeks. UK Student visa takes 3 weeks. Canada Study Permit takes 8 to 12 weeks. Australia Student visa takes 4 to 6 weeks. Germany National visa takes 6 to 12 weeks. Ireland Stamp 2 visa takes 4 to 8 weeks. Always apply well in advance of your intended intake date.
Common rejection reasons include insufficient financial proof, a weak or inconsistent Statement of Purpose, gaps in academic history without proper explanation, incomplete documentation, failure to demonstrate intent to return home after studies and previous visa rejections not disclosed. GI Education's visa team reviews all documents thoroughly to minimize rejection risk.
Yes you can apply independently but having professional guidance significantly improves your success rate. Our visa experts have processed over 15,000 applications and know exactly what each embassy looks for. Our mock interview sessions and document review service have helped us maintain a 98 percent visa success rate.
Our team will analyze the rejection reason and advise on whether to reapply, appeal the decision or explore alternative destinations. In many cases a visa rejection can be overcome with stronger documentation or a revised SOP.
Yes. Even if tuition is free or minimal at German public universities you still need a German National Visa (Type D) to study there. You will also need to open a blocked account with approximately €11,208 to prove you can support yourself financially during your studies.
Our primary service covers the initial student visa. However we do provide guidance and document support for study permit renewals in countries like Canada and Australia. Contact our office for country-specific renewal assistance.

Education Loan

Financial solutions to fund your study abroad dreams

Yes. Education loans for studying MBBS abroad are available through major nationalized banks like SBI and Bank of Baroda as well as NBFCs like Avanse, Auxilo and Credila. Loan amounts typically range from ₹7.5 lakhs to ₹1.5 crores depending on the lender and destination country. GI Education partners with 20+ lending institutions to help students find the best loan terms.
Collateral requirements depend on the loan amount. Loans above ₹7.5 lakhs from most nationalized banks require collateral such as property, fixed deposits or insurance policies. Some NBFCs and private lenders offer unsecured loans up to ₹40 lakhs for eligible profiles.
Interest rates for education loans in India typically range from 8.5 percent to 14 percent per annum depending on the bank, loan amount, collateral and applicant profile. Government bank loans generally have lower rates than NBFCs. Some lenders offer a 0.5 percent concession for female students.
Most education loans have a moratorium period which covers the course duration plus 6 to 12 months after graduation or when you get a job (whichever is earlier). Repayment typically begins after this period and stretches over 10 to 15 years.
Typically needed are the university admission letter, academic records, KYC documents of student and co-applicant, income proof of co-applicant (salary slips or ITR), bank statements for 6 to 12 months, collateral documents if applicable and the fee structure from the university.
GI Education does not charge students separately for education loan guidance. Our loan assistance is part of our holistic service package. We connect students with our lending partners and assist with documentation at no extra cost.

Test Preparation

Ace your IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT and more

IELTS is accepted by almost all universities worldwide and is preferred for UK, Australia, Canada and Ireland applications. TOEFL is preferred by many US universities and is computer-based. If you are applying to multiple countries IELTS is generally more versatile. Our test prep counsellors can recommend the right test based on your target universities.
On average students with intermediate English proficiency require 2 to 3 months of structured preparation to achieve a Band 6.5 or higher. Students targeting Band 7.5 or above may need 4 to 6 months. GI Education offers both intensive and regular batch formats to suit your timeline.
A score of 315 and above is generally considered competitive for top-ranked universities in the USA. For elite programs at MIT, Stanford or Harvard a score of 325 or above is preferred. Our GRE preparation program focuses on Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writing.
Yes. We offer live online classes, recorded lecture access, downloadable study material, weekly mock tests and one-on-one doubt-clearing sessions for IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, SAT, PTE, Duolingo English Test and OET — all accessible from any device.
Many students improve significantly in their second or third attempt. GI Education provides a detailed score analysis after each mock test and adjusts the preparation strategy accordingly. Re-enrollment for another batch is available at a discounted rate for existing students.

Scholarships

Funding opportunities to reduce your study abroad costs

Yes. Numerous scholarships are available for Indian students including the Chevening Scholarship for the UK, Commonwealth Scholarships, Government of Korea Scholarship (GKS), DAAD for Germany, Australia Awards, Fulbright for USA and hundreds of university-specific merit scholarships. GI Education maintains an updated scholarship database and alerts students to relevant opportunities.
The scholarship application process varies by award. Generally it involves submitting an application form, academic transcripts, statement of purpose, letters of recommendation and sometimes an interview. GI Education provides scholarship essay writing guidance and application support to maximize your chances.
Some scholarships are need-based rather than merit-based and do not require exceptional academic scores. Additionally many universities offer tuition fee waivers or partial scholarships to international students as part of their enrollment incentives regardless of grades.
Scholarship deadlines are often earlier than university application deadlines — sometimes by 6 to 9 months. You should start researching scholarships at least a year before your intended intake. GI Education will include scholarship timelines in your personalized study abroad roadmap.
Yes. The Korean Government Scholarship Program (GKS) is a fully funded scholarship that covers tuition fees, a monthly living stipend of approximately ₩900,000 to ₩1,000,000, round-trip airfare, health insurance and a Korean language training program before the academic year begins.

University Applications

Step-by-step guidance for successful applications

We generally recommend applying to 5 to 8 universities across three categories — 2 reach schools where admission is competitive, 3 to 4 match schools that align well with your profile and 1 to 2 safety schools where admission is highly likely. This balanced approach maximizes your chances of receiving at least one strong offer.
A Statement of Purpose (SOP) is a 500 to 1000 word essay that explains your academic background, work experience, career goals and why you are applying to a specific program and university. It is one of the most critical components of your application — a strong SOP can overcome weaknesses in other parts of your profile and a weak one can result in rejection despite strong grades.
From starting your applications to receiving all admission decisions typically takes 6 to 12 weeks for most universities. Some universities have rolling admissions and may respond within 2 to 3 weeks while others have fixed decision release dates.
Yes. Our application specialists provide comprehensive SOP writing and editing services. We also guide professors and employers on writing impactful Letters of Recommendation tailored to each university's expectations.
Requirements vary by country and university. US top schools generally prefer a GPA equivalent to 75 percent and above. UK universities typically require a first-class or 2:1 degree equivalent. For MBBS abroad destinations like Russia and Philippines the academic requirements are generally more flexible with most universities accepting students who have passed their 12th grade with Physics Chemistry and Biology.
After receiving an offer letter you need to review and accept the offer before the deadline, pay the tuition deposit to secure your seat, apply for your student visa, arrange accommodation and education loan if applicable, attend our pre-departure briefing session and then travel to your destination country. GI Education supports you through every one of these steps.
